Inspiring kids to Innovate, Create, and Lead
Welcome to AMS!
Atascadero Middle School is nearly complete with its exciting and eye-catching change this year! We have a phenomenal new building, fully renovated classrooms across our quad, new technology throughout our campus, exciting 21st century elective offerings, and—most exciting of all—with the addition of the remaining 6th grade classes, full implementation as a middle school! We would also love to share many of the other transformative learning experiences taking place as we look forward to the coming years, and that is what this brief newsletter is all about.
AMS teachers and staff have a progressive, student-centered approach to teaching and learning. We believe all students can and should meet the highest academic and behavioral standards. Our campus is a safe and inclusive space, where students are encouraged to learn by using their talents, engaging in teamwork, asking questions, collaborating, utilizing technology, communicating, and researching and defending their points of view citing evidence and real world artifacts.
Our teachers strive to find ways to engage every student with the curriculum, with technology, and with each other. This powerful combination is what has the potential to make learning transformative. We know that the jobs of tomorrow do not even exist yet today, so we strive to teach students the skills to adapt, to learn how to learn, and to have lots and lots of fun along the way.
We are really proud of the direction we are headed and could not be more excited to have your son or daughter join us in August.
